I previously played v1. The newly released v1. There are so many new areas, each in unique styles, and plenty of lines to explore. Every year we see the limits of OMSI being pushed – this is definitely the furthest I’ve ever seen it go. It is a revolution in quality. It is an amazing experience and you will love every second of it. No decoration of any scope has been spared. I just played Route 11 which spends half an hour going through most of the suburban, residential and city areas of the map.

Here are some of the things that stand out to me the most in this map. Most of them are commonly found in other maps, but in Probacher Land I feel that they are used in much smarter ways than other maps I have been playing OMSI a lot since Here is an album of some of my favourite areas I saw or wrote about in this review, each image is captioned.

Please treat this as a spoiler, try to play the map yourself first! Note that your experience may differ slightly as I am using ambient occlusion and selective bloom ReShade shaders with my own settings preset. I personally feel that this is the minimum amount to write in a review for work of this level to do it proper justice.

In my opinion you could have been a little more harsh on some things, like for example the absense of any interssection objects or the download size, but I’m glad you like the map so much, that you chose to write this.

To be brutally honest, some of the things you mention here are more pure luck, like the fact that the performance turned out that well, or the consequence of carefully chosen objects and splines, as I hardly created or textured any objects and splines myself for this project, but rather dived deep into the landsape of eastern european maps which are often unknown to the most western players.

The work is not done and there are many things I want to improve on, as well as expand the map further to the east, but I am really happy, that this version now found it’s right audience and even people willing to contribute here on Webdisk.

This is not as simple as just placing an object in the road from time to time, to make realistic it has to be textured properly.

There is careful detailing on the road surface, such as moss and cracks near kerbs. Vegetation — the way it is used in this map is pretty unique. It is dense and plentiful in the more run-down areas, giving an overgrown effect, and you combined specific objects to create new shapes which works really well. It is clear you experimented with this obtain these results. The scale of the streets themselves match well with the area they create – there are parts of the city with huge industrial parks, and wide roads, and then there are secluded neighbourhoods with tight turns, complex junctions none of these are impossible with a carefully driven 12m bus, so it makes for a fun challenge and there’s also country roads and forests with off road areas you drive through I love this!

Each of these have their own texture styles road markings, tarmac, pavements Because of how different these areas are in literally every aspect road scale, traffic, detailing the map sometimes feels as big as Ahlheim Laurenzbach Updated tiles , because each area has so much more content. Soundscapes — So glad to see a developer paying attention to this! In overgrown areas there are emphasised sounds of nature, in industrial areas there are the sounds of factories, in the city there is road noise and at the bus stations there are custom conversation sounds.

Routes — there are plenty, each going through different areas of the map and the timetabling is absolutely perfect, its not too loose or tight – I could drive at average speed early in the route then had to drive really carefully in tighter areas, but was always 0.

Given enough time, most talented developers could probably do the above on their own, but keeping all this detail in line with performance friendliness is another skill in itself, you have to moderate the level of detail very precisely.
