Family Fun Is Brighter With a LED Lantern
A lantern is an essential element in a cabin, tent, or campsite when a family is on vacation. For a family who enjoys outdoor activities, a LED lantern can allow them to continue the fun long after the sun sets. With all the different types of LED lanterns available on the market, the family can make sure that they can always light the way.
Twice the Light
A lantern can hold many different positions in a campsite. They may sit on the picnic table to illuminate a card game or a late dinner. With the proper accessories, a camper can hang a lantern on a post in the center of a campsite to make sure that people can see where they are going as they move about to put wood on the fire, enter a tent, or go out to the bathroom. Some tents come equipped with a hook for a lantern to help children who may be afraid of the dark or for someone to see in the tent to read or change their clothes.
Some manufacturing companies sell a lantern that has two separate lights built in to one unit. Combined, they shed enough light for a standard lantern. They can also be removed from the base so that a person can have a way to see where they are going or perhaps take with them into the tent. Some of these lanterns allow the duo lights to recharge when they are plugged back into the base.
Blaze a trail
Other companies manufacture a LED lantern that burns brightly, around 175 lumens and can last several nights before it is recharged. This way, the light will last for a weekend camping trip and still be available if the power goes out for a few hours, even if dad forgot to replace the batteries.
A lantern with a long life is a good thing to have on hand. There are times when storms may knock out the power in the home, and it may take a while for the electricity to be restored. While flashlights are a handy device for walking through the home to go from room to room, a lantern set in a central area, such as a living room is beneficial. It will help ease the children’s fears because it is dark, noisy, and a little scary outside. It is also easier to play games to help pass the time and distract a family until normalcy is restored.
Compact is still powerful
While a lantern has many uses, they are not always easy to store. If a person doesn’t have a garage or basement to stow camping gear this doesn’t necessarily mean they can’t keep a lantern on hand for emergencies. Some lanterns are compact to store easily, but are just as powerful as its standard counterpart is.
A folding LED lantern is usable when it is closed in its smaller form for travel or storage. Folded, it is about 112 lumens, bright enough for standard use. If more light is needed, the lantern opens up to provide 360 degrees of light.
Another version of a compact lantern is one that telescopes out to provide light, or contracts for easy storage. This is a good addition for an emergency kit to keep in the back of a vehicle in case of car trouble. It also fits easily in a pack for those who like to backpack to their campsite.
Like all LEDs, a LED lantern is durable, lasts longer than standard lanterns, and preserves battery life. Many of these lanterns have the option of using D batteries or a six-volt rechargeable pack. The ability to recharge the battery helps the environment, making these lanterns beneficial for family outings and the environment.
