Camping For New Beginners

There are many things that you need to remember before you go camping. First, pick the perfect place. I would call ahead and reserve a spot at a local camping ground. Certain weeks can get full very fast. Next is the preparation. Depending on the type of family you have, you may want to consider an extra change of clothes, pajamas, a sweatshirt or windbreaker, shoes to hike around in, and flip-flops for easy midnight bathroom breaks. You may also want to bring bug spray if you are a night owl.

The next think you want to consider before camping is the food. Some people like eating hamburgers, hot dogs, baked beans, and smores. You will also need plates, cups, and forks. Don’t forget about breakfast. Pop tarts and cereal are always a good idea. Some people go all out for breakfast and cook eggs, bacon, and sausage on their travel sized gas grill. Remember that it can be cold in the mornings, so you might want to pack a tea kettle for instant coffee or coco. In your cooler you will want to pack ketchup, mustard, lots of bottled water for the hikes, hot dogs, hamburgers, milk for cereal, and maybe some breakfast foods. Don’t forget a couple of trash bags since you need to drive what trash you don’t burn to the dumpster in the park.

Now let’s talk sleeping. Some people come in an air conditioned RV. I don’t really consider this camping. I would stick with the tent since it will help you feel more like you are camping. Some people like to bring rubber eggshell padding for under the sleeping bag, other people like air mattresses. Usually when you first try to sleep it can be very hot, so I would also bring a light blanket.

Once you get to the sight, you have to pick the perfect place for you. Maybe you are looking for one with lots of shade, near the beach, or near the bathrooms. Once you pick the perfect spot you will need to put the piece of paper that the check-in office gives you on the pole. It is about twenty dollars a day for the spot.

With all of the sugar that you are consuming during this experience, you may want to hike on a nature trail. Many sites have very unique trails that can lead to waterfalls, beaches, and abandon buildings.

Happy Camping!
